 രഞ്ജി ട്രോഫി ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രസിദ്ധമായ ആഭ്യന്തര ക്രിക്കറ്റ് ടൂർണമെന്റുകളിലൊന്നാണ്. ഇന്ത്യൻ ക്രിക്കറ്റിന്റെ ചരിത്രത്തിലെയും വികസനത്തിലെയും വലിയൊരു അദ്ധ്യായമാണ് ഈ ടൂർണമെന്റിന് വേണ്ടി മാറ്റിവെക്കുന്നത്. ഇന്ത്യൻ ക്രിക്കറ്റിന്റെ അടിത്തറ പാകുന്നതിലും ഉന്നതമായ കളിക്കാർ കണ്ടെത്തുന്നതിലും രഞ്ജി ട്രോഫി നിർണായക പങ്കുവഹിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. 1934-ൽ രഞ്ജി ട്രോഫി ആദ്യമായി അവതരിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. രാജസ്ഥാൻ രണജിത് സിംഹ്‌ജി വടോദര എന്ന രാജകുടുംബാംഗത്തിൻറെ ഓർമ്മക്കായി ഈ ടൂർണമെന്റ് ആരംഭിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. രഞ്ജി സിംഹ്‌ജി പ്രസിദ്ധനായ ഒരു ക്രിക്കറ്റ് കളിക്കാരനായിരുന്നു, അദ്ദേഹം ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിനായി ഫസ്റ്റ്-ക്ലാസ് ക്രിക്കറ്റ് കളിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. രഞ്ജി ട്രോഫിയുടെ തുടക്കത്തിൽ മുംബൈ (മുമ്പത്തെ ബോംബെ) ടൂർണമെന്റിൽ സമ്പൂർണമായി ആധിപത്യം കാഴ്ചവെച്ചു, 1934 മുതൽ 1980 കളുടെ മധ്യഭാഗം വരെ മുംബൈ 41 തവണ ചാമ്പ്യന്മാരായി മാറിയിട്ടുഡ്. രഞ്ജി ട്രോഫി സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളെ അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കി സംഘടിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു ടൂർണമെന്റാണ്. 38 ടീമുകൾ ഇന്നിവരെ ഈ ടൂർണമെന്റിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നുണ്ട്, അവ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങൾ, യൂണിയൻ പ്രദേശങ്ങൾ, സർവീസസ് ടീമുകൾ എന്നിവയെത്തുടർന്നുള്ളവയാണ്...

 ആഗോളതലത്തിൽ തന്നെ പൊതുജനാരോഗ്യരംഗത്ത് തനതായ വ്യക്തിമുദ്ര പതിപ്പിച്ച ഇടമാണ് കേരളം. സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം കിട്ടുന്ന സമയത്ത് ഭാരതത്തിന്റെ ഇതര ഭാഗങ്ങളെക്കാൾ ഒട്ടാകെ മെച്ചമായിരുന്നു നമ്മുടെ വിശിഷ്യാ,തിരുവിതാംകൂറിന്റെ പൊതുജനാരോഗ്യ സൂചികകൾ. എങ്കിലും ലോകത്തിലെ വികസിത സമൂഹങ്ങളുമായി തട്ടിച്ചുനോക്കുമ്പോൾ നാം വളരെ പിന്നോക്കാവസ്ഥയിൽ തന്നെയായിരുന്നു. സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യാനന്തരം ഐക്യ കേരളം രൂപീകൃതമായതിനുശേഷമാണ് നമ്മുടെ സമൂഹം പൊതുജനാരോഗ്യങ്ങളുടെ കാര്യത്തിൽ ഒരു കുതിച്ചുചാട്ടം നടത്തിയത്. കേരളത്തിലെ ആദ്യ ജനാധിപത്യ സർക്കാർ ഭൂമിയുടെ മേലുള്ള അവകാശത്തിലും സാർവത്രിക സൗജന്യ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിനും മറ്റും നടത്തിയ ഇടപെടലുകളുടെ സ്വാധീനം പൊതുജനാരോഗ്യ മേഖലയിലും ചലനങ്ങളുണ്ടാക്കി.  പൊതുജനാരോഗ്യത്തിന്റെ സാമൂഹിക നിർണ്ണയ ഘടകങ്ങളിൽ ഉണ്ടായ ഗുണപരമായ മാറ്റം പകർച്ചവ്യാധികളെ ഗണ്യമായി കുറച്ചു. ഭക്ഷണലഭ്യത ഉറപ്പുവരുത്തി കൊണ്ടും അമ്മമാരുടെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളുടെയും കാര്യത്തിൽ സവിശേഷമായ ശ്രദ്ധ നൽകി കൊണ്ടും നാം പൊതുജനാരോഗ്യത്തിന്റെ കാര്യത്തിൽ വളരെയധികം മുന്നോട്ട് പോയി.ഐക്യ കേരളം രൂപീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടതിനുശേഷം നാം നേടിയ പൊതുജന ആരോഗ്യ നേട്ടങ്ങളാണ്...
