Importance of Physical Fitness in Daily Life
Physical fitness is the ability to function efficiently and effectively without injury,
be healthy, resist diseases, and cope with emergencies. Physical fitness is a state of
physiologic well-being that is achieved through a combination of good diet, regular
physical exercise, and other practices that promote good health.
A physically fit individual is happier than an unhealthy one. Physical fitness
coupled with a healthy lifestyle is one of the vital factors contributing to a quality
life. When physical activity is combined with proper nutrition, it can help control
weight and prevent obesity, a major risk factor for many diseases. It improves our
cardiovascular health by increasing maximal cardiac output and stroke volume and
helps in the prevention of diabetes by improving glucose resistance.
Benefits of physical fitness
Prevent the occurrence of diseases:
Physical fitness prevents the occurrence of a variety of diseases. It
develops a capacity to fight infections and certain other diseases.
Reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases:
Heart diseases and stroke are two of the leading cause of death. Daily
physical activity can help prevent heart diseases and stroke by strengthening
the heart muscle, improving blood flow, and increasing the heart’s working
capacity.
Reduce blood pressure:
Regular physical activity can reduce blood pressure in those persons
who suffer from high blood pressure levels.
Improved energy level:
Regular physical exercise decreases blood triglycerides and increases
the energy levels of the body. It improves blood circulation and helps in
keeping all the body organs fit and functioning.
Prevent back pain:
Regular exercise helps to prevent back pain by increasing muscle
strength and endurance and improving flexibility and posture.
Reduce bone diseases:
Regular weight-bearing exercise promotes bone formation and may
prevent many forms of bone loss associated with aging and protect against
osteoporosis and arthritis.
Improve your mental health and mood:
Physical fitness facilitates a sound psychological state, thus
preventing us from mental diseases. Exercise is likely to reduce depression
and anxiety and help you to better manage stress.
Better digestion:
Physical activity is responsible for smoothening the process of
digestion, thus avoiding constipation and digestion-related disorders.
Increase chances of living longer:
Physical activity can reduce your risk of dying early from the leading
causes of death, like heart disease and some cancers.
Improve the quality of life:
Regular physical activity helps to improve one’s quality of life by all
means in day-to-day activities.
