  ഒരേയൊരു തലൈവർ  തലമുറകൾ മാറി, ടെക്നോളജി മാറി, സിനിമയുടെ ഭാഷ മാറി. പക്ഷേ 50 വർഷമായി തെന്നിന്ത്യൻ സിനിമയിൽ മാറാത്ത ഒരൊറ്റ കാര്യമേയുള്ളൂ. തിയേറ്ററിലെ ലൈറ്റ് അണയുമ്പോൾ ആ നീല അക്ഷരങ്ങളിൽ തെളിയുന്ന പേര്. സൂപ്പർസ്റ്റാർ രജിനി. അതൊരു ടൈറ്റിൽ കാർഡ് അല്ല. കോടിക്കണക്കിന് ആരാധകരുടെ സിരകളിലേക്ക് പടരുന്ന ഹൈ വോൾട്ടേജ് കറൻ്റ് ആണ്.  ഇതൊരു സാധാരണ സിനിമാതാരത്തിൻ്റെ കഥയല്ല. ഇതൊരു പച്ചയായ മനുഷ്യൻ ഒരു നാടിൻറെ കടവളായി മാറിയതിൻ്റെ ചരിത്രമാണ്. ഈ കഥ തുടങ്ങുന്നത് മദ്രാസിലെ സ്റ്റുഡിയോകളിൽ അല്ല. ബാംഗ്ലൂരിലെ പൊടിപിടിച്ച തെരുവുകളിലാണ്. 1950 ഡിസംബർ 12. രാമോജിറാവ് ഗേക്വാദ എന്ന കോൺസ്റ്റബിളിന് നാലാമത്തെ മകൻ ജനിക്കുന്നു. പേര് ശിവാജിറാവ് ഗേക്വാദ്. അവൻ്റെ ഒൻപതാം വയസ്സിൽ അമ്മ മരണപ്പെട്ടു. പിന്നാലെ പട്ടിണിയും ദാരിദ്ര്യവും വലിഞ്ഞുമുറുകുന്ന ജീവിത പ്രാരാബ്ധങ്ങൾ. പഠിത്തം പ്രതിസന്ധിയിലായപ്പോൾ ആ പയ്യൻ കയ്യിൽ കിട്ടിയ പണിയെല്ലാം ചെയ്‌തു. ചുമട്ടു തൊഴിലാളിയായി ചാക്കുകൾ ചുമന്നു. കൺസ്ട്രക്ഷൻ സൈറ്റുകളിൽ സിമൻറ് കൂട്ടി. കാലം അങ്ങനെ മുന്നോട്ടുപോയി. പിന്നീട് ആ ജീവിതം അല്പമെങ്കിലും പച്ചപിടിക്കുന്നത് ബാംഗ്ലൂർ ട്രാൻസ്പോർട്ട് സർവീസ...

He is not just my grandfather but also my protector, my guide, and one of the most important people in my life. Since my childhood, my father has been living abroad.   കൽക്കണ്ടം പോലൊരു പെണ്ണ്!                                           കൽക്കണ്ടം പോലൊരു പെണ്ണ്!   അവളെ ആദ്യമായി കണ്ടുമുട്ടിയിട്ട് ഇപ്പോൾ രണ്ടു വർഷങ്ങൾ പിന്നിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. ഒന്നരവർഷത്തോളം വെറുമൊരു സഹപ്രവർത്തകയായി മാത്രമാണ് അവൾ എന്റെ നിത്യജീവിതത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായിരുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ കാലം ഞങ്ങളുടെ സൗഹൃദത്തിന് പുതിയൊരു ഭാവം നൽകി; വൈകിയാണെങ്കിലും ആ ആത്മാവിന്റെ ആഴങ്ങൾ അടുത്തറിയാൻ എനിക്ക് സാധിച്ചു. ആദ്യമായി കണ്ട ആ നിമിഷം തന്നെ, എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ ശ്രീകോവിലിൽ സ്നേഹത്തിന്റെയും ലാളിത്യത്തിന്റെയും ഉത്തമ മാതൃകയായി ഞാൻ അവളെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരുന്നു. തനിക്ക് ഏൽപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ട ജോലികൾ അങ്ങേയറ്റം വൃത്തിയോടെയും, അതൊരു ഹരമായി സമയബന്ധിതമായും ചെയ്തുതീർക്കുന്ന അവളുടെ ആ സമർപ്പണം എന്നും എനിക്ക് കൗതുകമായിരുന്നു. ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ തിരക്കുകളിൽ പലരെയും നമ്മൾ കണ്ടുമുട്ടാറുണ്ട്. എന്നാൽ എന്റെ മനസ്സിന്റെ ഉരക്കല്ലിൽ വെച്ച് തുലനം ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ, മനുഷ്യത്വത്തിന്റെ അളവുകോലിൽ അവൾ എപ്പോഴും എന്നെക്കാൾ ഒരു നാലഞ്ചു പടി ഉയരത്തിൽ തന്നെ സ...

  First They Came Dear reader, Last night, a video from Gaza popped up on my feed. I engaged with the video to help it get better reach and I immediately scrolled on, looking for something to soothe me. Maybe a dancing dog or some silly meme. Anything to distract me. A lot of us do this and lately, it’s got me thinking: what does that say about where we’re at? The footage is too much to handle and scrolling past it feels like the only way to keep functioning. But I wonder how many times we can push these exits before the world we’re avoiding just disappears from view. And how privileged we are to be able to look away whenever we feel discomfort.   ശലഭം : നിറങ്ങൾ തേടിയുള്ള ചെറിയ യാത്ര പ്രകൃതിയിലെ ഏറ്റവും മനോഹരമായ കാഴ്ചകളിലൊന്നാണ് ശലഭം . പൂക്കൾക്കിടയിലൂടെ പതുക്കെ പറന്നുനടക്കുന്ന ഒരു ശലഭത്തെ കാണുമ്പോൾ അറിയാതെ തന്നെ നമ്മുടെ കണ്ണുകൾ അതിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ പോകും . അതിന്റെ ചിറകുകളിലെ നിറങ്ങളും പറക്കുന്നതിലെ ലാളിത്യവും മനസ്സിനെ ആകർഷിക്കും . എന്നാൽ ശലഭത്തിന്റെ ജീവിതം വെറും സൗന്ദര്യത്തിന്റെ കഥയല്ല . അതിനുള്ളിൽ മാറ്റത്തിന്റെയും കാത്തിരിപ്പിന്റെയും സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിന്റെയും ഒരു ചെറിയ ജീവിതയാത്ര ഒളിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു . ഒരു ശലഭത്തെ കാണുമ്പോൾ ആദ്യം നമ്മുടെ ശ്രദ്ധ പിടിച്ചുപറ്റുന്നത് അതിന്റെ നിറങ്ങളാണ് . ചില ശലഭങ്ങൾക്ക് തിളങ്ങുന്ന നീലനിറം , ചിലതിന് മഞ്ഞയും കറുപ്പും , മറ്റുചിലയ്ക്ക് ചുവപ്പും ഓറഞ്ചും നിറങ്ങളാണ് . ഓരോ ശലഭവും പ്രകൃതി വരച്ച ഒരു ചെറിയ ചിത്രത്തെപ്പോലെയാണ് . ഒരേ പൂന്തോട്ടത്തിൽ പല നിറത്തിലുള്ള ശലഭങ്ങൾ പറന്നുനടക്കുമ്പോൾ പ്രകൃതി തന്നെ ഒരു ചിത്രശാലയായി മാറുന്നു . പക്ഷേ ഈ മനോഹരമായ ചിറകുകൾ എല്ലായ്പ്പോഴും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല . ഒരു ചെറിയ മുട്ടയിൽ നിന്നാണ് ശലഭത്തിന്റെ ...
