Education and Humanity: A Tug of War in Today’s World
Every parent strives to furnish their children with optimal
education as their main parenting duty. A high-quality education serves as the
groundwork for obtaining a successful career and developing a bright future as
well as achieving life progression. The recent developments in Kerala have
tested our faith in education through the very core. Recent weeks have revealed
multiple cases of extreme violence along with moral deterioration which creates
significant worries about the mental and emotional condition of adolescents.
The brutal school murder of Shahbaz by his classmates, the disturbing story of
Afan who murdered five family members in Venjaramoodu, the breaking apart of
brother-sister relationships together with instances of brothers being involved
in drug introduction to sisters showcase the alarming state of our society. The
lack of empathy represents a growing national problem which affects young
people across the board. As both a parent and an educator, such news grow a
deep sense of fear and helplessness. Our future generation takes an uncertain
direction because children lose their capacity to show kindness and empathy.
A single focus on education - does it serve the greater
mankind or does humanity need to take the leading position?
The Real Purpose of Education
Parents invest their time effort to place their children in
top schools along with providing maximum facilities to feel proud about their
educational success. Excellence in grades and strong academic performance
brings delight to families even though it remains unclear how these
achievements affect the development of compassion in children. This is the real
question. Education must educate compassionate moral individuals who
demonstrate responsibility as well as academic achievement.
Home is where the process of value instillation should
start. Parents successfully spend enough hours teaching essential values to
their children. Together with parents currently view education solely as a tool
for obtaining superior academic achievements and worthwhile official
designations and lucrative employment positions. The failure of this
educational objective occurs when moral developments and emotional growth of
children are ignored. Education beyond creating successful professionals needs
to establish good human beings with responsible citizenship traits.
Justice and Education, a Dilemma
The students who faced murder charges for killing Shahbaz
kept their right to attend SSLC examinations. Every person has a legal right to
education yet the real purpose of this educational opportunity remains up for
scrutiny. After receiving education does a person engage in violent acts then
we must question whether education delivered its intended benefits.
Does the fact of their education ensure they will remain
crime-free in upcoming years?
We must recognize that parental shortcomings and home
complications together with insufficient emotional support provide the actual
basis for these issues rather than searching external sources such as media or
films. Masculine identity stems mostly from the primary shaping process which
occurs within the family home environment. Without love and care and proper
guidance a child will be likely to choose destructive paths. The combination of
mental health difficulties with family disputes and elevated stress levels
forms psychological instability which results in maladaptive actions.
The Role of Parents and Teachers
This crisis worsens because parents fail to pay attention to
their children while also neglecting effective communication. Parents should
question themselves about their last meaningful conversation with their child.
Modern families struggle to notice emotional difficulties which their children
face because they lead hectic lives. Education quality and financial support
alone do not establish adequate support for children. Children require
emotional backing as well as comprehension from adults together with moral
education to build their foundation.
Teachers along with their students have a substantially
large responsibility to discharge. The education system needs to extend past
academic lessons because it should include vital instruction on humanity ethics
and behaviour. Instructional institutions need to combine value-driven teaching
with mental health programs combined with active conversations about social
duty and empathy acknowledgment.
A Call for Holistic Education
The fundamental purpose of education extends beyond job
attainment and certificate acquisition since it develops moral people who
exhibit compassionate behaviour with ethical conduct. Any community built on
high academic achievements without essential human values will inevitably
decline morally. Parents together with teachers need to collaborate for
building a new generation with strong values in kindness and respect and
accountability.
When education lacks teachings about humanity our
educational efforts could create successful professionals who become
unsuccessful humans in life. Every home serves as the initial location for
building the future since educational responsibility extends beyond government
institutions and schools. Success in an educated society should be evaluated
based on both accomplishments and moral strength. We must pledge to develop
scholars who transform into responsible human beings.
