Time: The Measured Mystery
Humanity has always tried to uncover the secrets of nature, and time has always been an elusive mystery- precisely measured yet defies complete understanding, constant yet changing . How the time is perceived differs greatly with the lens used to see it
Time when measured as the vibrations of cesium it became a universal objective standard. The way we see time as seconds and minutes.
In psychology, the subjective perception of time is known as chronoception. The same moment is lived differently by everyone based on their emotional state and context. The same duration can feel much shorter or longer depending on attention, emotion, neurotransmitters, environment, novelty and expectations. Time seems to fly when we enjoy what we are doing, and seems to crawl when we feel bored. Interestingly this psychological stretch of time echoes in physics itself- theory of relativity, where the time frame stretches and drags with respect to the observer's motion and gravity. In psychological time the stretch is due the emotion and attention.
If one is to explain in a more philosophical way:
No matter how we claim to capture it's essence it is often an elusive concept. It is an invisible thread weaving together the emotions, memories and experiences. It has history, present and future with it and moves forward eternally, writing down all the present moments to bring back us with its cyclical rhythm. We always are in a rush to conquer something, yet it neither rushes nor halts. Holding both joy and suffering alike, yet heals with its passage. The Orion shines as a silent witness to the perpetual loop, returning every season as of to remind us of the eternal loop.
The stars remind of its terrifying yet fascinating nature. The stars are the shadows of the past that hold no promise for its existence at this moment.
I would like to see it as :
Time allows for new mornings, new persons and a silent promise of tomorrow.
It has the power to estrange us also to make the bond stronger, to help us realize who cares for you , who stays with you and whom you stay for. The unpredictability it holds is disturbing but the outcomes of exploring it never disappoints.
Perhaps times journey isn’t for rest but for companionship- a witness who walks beside not behind, who is not chasing and learning to live the present fully we may realize that we were the companions all along. Thus make the journey a little less lonelier.
"Time remains as a reflection of ourselves — eternally moving, endlessly circling, never fully understood, but forever felt”
