Shariah Compliant Investment – some unexplored investment avenues;

Broadly, the meaning of Sharia is that “Clear Path”, governs the day-to-day life of people following Islamic tradition which includes financial activities also. Sharia investment looks forward to ethical investment, shariah compliant funds are those investment funds that are followed by principles of the Islamic religion. These are the potential investment avenues/investment funds specifically designed for the followers of the Islamic religion.

In Islam, there is no permission to invest our money or wealth in proscribed areas (In Islamic terms, it’s called Haram) such as liquor business, interest field, pork business, gambling, etc. But there are some permissible areas in which we can invest our money, that’s called Halal or Shariah Compliant Investment (Shariah-compliant funds are investments that comply with Islamic law).

The index is launched by BSE & Mumbai-based Taqwaa Advisory and Shariah Investment Solutions (Tasis). Index includes the companies like Bharti Airtel, TCS, ONGC, Reliance Industries etc.
