A Fine Symmetry
Mad Mary
How long have you been wandering?
With two feet in this world and thoughts elsewhere
Carrying your life in a bundle of dirty clothes
Sheltering in dilapidated temples or bus stops
Drowned in the ebb and flow of bedlam days
You scold all with acid words
Your perennial wrath is sharp
When those stones hit their target
How do you spend your nights?
Counting the stars spiritedly
Or the lice on your disheveled hair
Or in constant vigil to keep off all human contact?
Are you to remain an unanswered question forever?
On which skewed plan has mother nature counted you in?
Oh, you are not to be deemed a scheme gone wrong?
You are as proper as one gets?
Sweet dear Mary,
That mischievous smile says it all
