Career for College Students

The Oxford Dictionary defines career as " a profession done for a substantial amount of a person's life and with prospects for advancement".Making Interpretated in this context,the term profession can be generalised to all types of professions, contrary to common belief that only people in certain jobs or occupations are known to have a career. However,the term 'career' is generally associated with professions that are associated with some level of status and formal qualifications.Over the past few years,the definition and sense of the term " career" have shifted dramatically around the world.Beginning with career preparation,an individual's career aspirations shift from gaining an entrance into the world of work to supporting himself and succeeding along his chosen direction.The choice of a profession is primarily determined by the individual's interest,ambition,reputation and financial resources.    

A person's quality of living, income levels, future success,self esteem and social standing are all heavily influenced by his work.A person's career selection begins as he considers his potential career and begins to plan for a fruitful future.It has been stated that there is a preference in Indian society for engineering and medical professions.According to one survey,36 percent of students chose engineering as a career path,while 20 percent preferred pharmacy.Agriculture was the least favoured profession for those interviewed.People who are proactive were more inclined to pursue guidance than indecisive individuals that need additional assistance.Online role models,as well as a supportive home setting were observed to assist in knowledge finding and development of career -related skills.Students who are certain of their careers,high academic perfomers and participants with an intrinsic locus of influence demonstrated slightly higher levels of career maturity.Personal and Family factors are yet another influencing career choices among students.Also career is determined by socioeconomic status and academic performance.Career planning one of the most critical facets of well -being is shown to be missing in youth in some ways.Educate the youth to make choices and decisions based on their aspirations and abilities rather than on what you think they should do and learn about new careers by volunteering.

Find out the world of work and working trends through work experience and extra -curricular activities by talking to relatives and family,friends about the kind of work they do and develop the skills by taking part in clubs and activities,both within and outside of college which will help one for jobs.Discuss ideas and opinions with teachers or career advisors at college,get to know about the options available in education, employment and training.The need of the research in the field of interesting career is needed and more tools to be derived for such studies .Find the best career fit by completing personality tests and attend career guidance. 

Career selection and preparation have become increasingly necessary as a result of globalization and the existing occupational choices have resulted in an unparalleled battle for talent.Cultural,social and economic considerations heavily affect the idea of a profession and career preference, According to recent career management paradigms, career growth is a mechanism that is an offshoot of a dynamic relationship between the person and the community.It is an evolving phenomenon that must be considered within the larger framework of the environment in which the person is situated.An incorrect career choice will have long term consequence on an individual's achievement,contentment and mental health.As a result, making the right career choice is a critical achievement in a person's life.A suitable profession depends on their interests and sound education provides them with the needed push.Parents and teachers must encourage and assist them in order to accomplish their goals.
