International Women’s Day ‘23

International Women's Day is an annual global event held on March 8th. It is a day to celebrate the accomplishments and efforts of women throughout history, as well as to advocate for gender equality and women's rights.

International Women's Day has a variety of subjects each year, and it is usually celebrated with activities, marches, and rallies all across the world. The day also serves as a reminder of the continuous fight for women's rights, such as equal pay, equal access to education and healthcare, and an end to violence against women.

Since the early 1900s, International Women's Day has been honored, and it is now recognised as an official holiday in several countries. It is a day to celebrate the advances made in women's rights while also recognising the work that remains to be done to achieve gender equality.

International Women's Day serves as a timely reminder of the ongoing struggle to achieve gender parity and the importance of continuing to work for a more just and equitable world for all women.

International Women's Day is observed on March 8th each year to recognise the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world. The primary goals of International Women's Day are as follows:

1.Gender equality: The goal of International Women's Day is to raise awareness about gender inequality and to advocate for equal rights and opportunities for women.

2.Celebrate women's accomplishments: International Women's Day celebrates women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements around the world and encourages women to take on leadership roles in their communities and beyond.

3.Raising awareness of women's issues: International Women's Day draws attention to the difficulties that women encounter, such as gender-based violence, discrimination, and a lack of access to education and healthcare.

4. Advocate for women's rights: International Women's Day acts as a rallying cry to promote women's rights and to empower women to reach their full potential.

5.Promote women's leadership: International Women's Day highlights the importance of women's leadership and encourages women to take on leadership roles in their workplaces, communities, and governments.

6.Encourage female solidarity: International Women's Day gives a venue for women to join together, support one another, and lobby for common interests.

Therefore, International Women's Day serves as a reminder that gender equality is critical to establishing a more equitable and inclusive society. Equity is frequently used in contrast to equality because it recognises that various persons and groups have varied needs and starting places and may require varying degrees of support and resources to accomplish the same results. Equity in the context of gender equality implies identifying and addressing the unique problems and hurdles that women encounter, as well as providing tailored support and resources to assist women in overcoming these obstacles and reaching their full potential.

Adopting equity as a core value entails committing to building a more equitable and inclusive society in which all persons have equal access to the resources and opportunities they require to prosper. Recognizing and confronting the ways in which gender discrimination and bias affect women's lives, as well as trying to promote more equal policies and practices in all sectors of life, is what it entails.

If the topic for International Women's Day 2023 is #EmbraceEquity, it would most likely focus on promoting gender equity and inspiring women to reach their full potential. Highlighting the interconnectedness of gender with other forms of oppression, supporting inclusive and equitable policies and practices, and encouraging individuals and organisations to take meaningful efforts towards achieving gender equality in their communities and workplaces are all examples of this.
