Remember that...

Remember that the clothes you discard in the corner of the room

Won't take themselves to the washing machine to relieve their gloom

It is up to you to walk them over there, so they can be cleaned

The machine requires water and soap to make them pristine

But the tank won't fill up on its own, it needs your help and care

You must scratch the wall behind the fridge to access the switch there

And when you call out "breakfast," don't expect the batter to appear

You must take it out, mix it well, and pour it to Iddly cooker

Remember that the batter won't magically appear each day

You must make time to grind the rice and dal in the right way

And washing your hands after eating won't clean the dishes for you

You must carry them to the sink and wash them to make them anew

The clothes in the wardrobe won't dry or fold themselves with ease

You must make the effort to tend to them if you aim to please

And when you step out in style with your gleaming shoes on your feet

Don't forget to dust the floor and mop it clean to keep it neat

Remember me when you find yourself in a state of disarray

When you're soaking in the foam, wishing water would come your way

When the clothes pile up and trip you up as you walk on by

When you're out of Idly batter and must purchase some to satisfy

Remember me when you sneeze from a dusty floor below

When you're driving and need a lap to rest your arm on

When you grope for a water bottle by your bedside in the night

Remember the warmth of my body, and that I'm always in your sight

For we never live apart from each other, not even for a second

And every moment spent remembering me is a moment well reckoned.
