Setting up IITs Abroad!

India is going to set up a new IIT in UAE, as part of the INDIA-UAE CEP Agreement

India and UAE have started their relationship in the olden days, with both countries as leading trading partners. UAE is the third-largest partner for India, the second-largest export destination for India and also India is the second trading partner for UAE. UAE exports to India largely petrochemicals, dates, metals etc. For India, the main focus is exporting Textiles, Leather, Gems & Jewellery, i.e. especially labour intensive product.

Recently India and UAE made a bilateral partnership agreement, this Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) will cover all areas of economic cooperation and its bilateral trade is projected to increase USD 100 billion in Goods and USD 15 Billion in services in the next 5 years. This path-breaking agreement will lead to seamless flow of Goods, Services, Capital, Technology and People and mutually enrich collaboration to attain sustainable growth, development, and prosperity to India and UAE.

As a part of this agreement and realizing the need to establish world-class institutions that encourage and support innovation and technological progress, the leaders agreed to establish an Indian Institute of Technology in the United Arab Emirates. Presently India has 23 IITs that provide UG, PG and Research programmes, these are the pioneering institutes in India. IIT in UAE will be established under the leadership of IIT Delhi probably JEE advance ranking will follow for admission requirement. (more information like actual location, admission procedure/requirement for international and NRI students lightly to be introduced later). Especially, it will help NRI students because they don’t need to come to India for joining IITs.
