India is Not a Religious Country But a Democratic Nation

India is a democratic country that allows freedom of thought, expression, belief, and worship to all citizens. On January 22, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, was praised by the Union Cabinet for the Pran Pratishta ceremony held at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. This temple was built on the site where the Babri Masjid once stood. The Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, called Modi the architect of a new era for realizing the five-century old dream of Indian civilization. The Prime Minister stressed that January 22, 2024, was not just a date, but the dawn of a new era.

The Ram Janmabhoomi Movement was a unique effort that united people from all walks of life. The Prime Minister oversaw the process of the Ram Temple construction, from laying the foundation stone to the inauguration. This initiative was framed as the sole people-led movement in independent India amidst decades of dispute. However, recent events near the Prana Pratishtha site indicate a shift in times, accompanied by alarming clashes.

Despite the Prime Minister's message of Ram as a solution, instances like those in Meera Road, Maharashtra, reveal tensions stoked by Jai Shri Ram chants. Government intervention in conflicts exacerbates issues rather than resolving them. The Ram Janmabhoomi movement often fuels new conflicts, exemplified by incidents in Narayanpet, Telangana, Sangareddy, and Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh. Concerns arise among patriots about whether the Prana Prathishta's integrity can preserve India's secular democratic republic or risk losing its essence.

In conclusion, India's history is filled with momentous events, but the Prime Minister's achievements on January 22 stand unparalleled. The Union Cabinet's resolution reaffirms the trajectory of the nation as it commemorates the 74th anniversary of India's transformation into a sovereign democratic republic. Despite challenges, there is a collective hope for the preservation of India's soul.
