Hello! Police Station – How Kerala Police Is Connecting with People Like Never Before

When we think about the police, in our minds,  uniforms, sirens, strict and law enforcement. But when comes to Kerala, the police are writing a new story — one that begins with connection, trust, and technology. One of the highligted  steps in this direction was the “Hello Kerala Police” project

‘Hello! Kerala Police, was a scheme implemented by the Kerala government during the tenure of Chief Minister Achuthanathan. The ‘Hello Kerala Police’ Project was formally inaugurated by Home Minister Shri. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. The 'Hello, Kerala Police’ project has been launched with the intention of connecting people from the DGP to constables through the police. At the same time, it creates a channel of communication between the officers. Through this scheme, local people can contact the police station and avoid traveling to the station as much as possible, and at the same time, police can get information about crimes, accidents, and the escape of criminals through phone calls or SMS. This scheme helps to inform all stations in time about a crime committed anywhere in Kerala. Now, after this, several states have introduced such schemes.

But Kerala Police never stop there. The above initiative became the starting point for a whole new era of people-friendly policing (Jamithri). Here are some of Kerala Police’s remarkable programmes that continue this mission.

  1. Janamaithri Suraksha Project
  2. Student Police Cadet (SPC) Project
  3. Smart Police Stations
  4. iCoPS (Integrated Core Police System)
  5. Cyberdome
  6. Hac’KP (Hackathon by Kerala Police)
  7. School Complaint Box System

  15. Senior Citizen Cell
  16. Operation P-Hunt

The Hello Kerala Police project stamped as a turning point in the history of policing in Kerala — transforming the police department from just a force that only responds, to a service that connects and communicates. By the years and over the years Kerala Police has continued this journey through just initiative like Janamaithri Suraksha, Smart Police Stations, Student Police Cadets, and Cyberdome, each reflecting a commitment to transparency, technology, and trust.

By binding the bridge between compassion with modern tools, Kerala Police has shown that they can do it with out power but the partnership

As the public and boundary grows with more complex and in digital, the connection between citizens and police must grow stronger too.
