In the Glow of Gratitude: Reflections from a Wedding Hall

Creativity should flow like a smooth stream yet when it comes to writing we are faced with many problems like the pending works, duties, our day to day hurly burleys and the like. The lines to write should come clear as our beloved author and writer William Wordsworth said about “Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility ”. In this blog I would like to engage you with a marital communion which made me think about the hullabaloos regarding a wedding. Recently I attended a wedding of a friend where I met many people. It was an enlightening moment when I realized as every eyes turned to the bride and groom at the wedding. Their eyes were filled with gratitude and happiness. As you know it is difficult to find your partner especially these times we hear there is no girls in vicinities. Most of them are wed and others are focusing on their careers. This wedding too we have been searching for the bride for a long time. It was great joy and everyone were eagerly waiting for what is going to happen when the moment they visited the brides home, to enquiring, engagement and finally the Nikkah ceremony.

It was an eventful wedding as my friend had an love affair and asked her hand in marriage but her father refused and he has lost his interest to lead a family life. I tried to cheer him up by saying your partner is waiting for you somewhere and be patient. Their has been several commotions regarding this and the girl was married off to another district. This proposal made us all pray with devotion and Alhamdulillah it had gone well. May God bless them with happiness and eternal love. We teased him by saying we will make poster of him standing with a buffalo and another one carrying  a heavy bundle on his head like a porter.

A card was printed with the photo of the groom along with sweets pinned to it and was distributed among the hall. Later the men started to sing together and had a fun night. The bride and groom was also not like we see about everyday. They entered the carpet and stopped in between to chat to the group who gathered in the hall. After  ten minutes they entered the stage and all eyes were focused on them. Then began the photo session everyone wanted a snap. Well I too took mine before going down the stairs to have my fill. On the way I met some people while being introduced to each other. Then went back and sat in the front row and began to look at everyone. The bride looked lovely in her red lehenga and groom paired with black suite. From their I met another lovely pair and was happy to be of their acquaintance. Their I got the time to think about how everyone is a celebrity on the day of their wedding. Ever felt that we are being  part of something beautiful which has the gods handprints written all over it. It was time to retreat from the event with the call of adhan.

I went to the home we discussed how I met their family prior to their wedding. It was funny because groom was missing the day before his wedding being involved in collecting his suite for the big day. I met the grooms mother, brother, sister-in-law such lovely people. They were all so overwhelmed with gratitude towards god. Later I came to know that they re-entered the hall along with his friends by singing and dancing and had a blast in the hall. I usually don’t enjoy spending too much time at any wedding, even I felt on my wedding day I could have gotten married at some other time. Well it was a wedding we all yearned to be fulfilled with all blessings. On the way to the wedding I was thinking about writing a blog and talked about writing this wedding as a blog and then I thought what can I say about it. But I dismissed the idea now that I began writing I’m feeling that the full impressions which I encountered so far isn’t being expressed fully. Now they had started living their life and is on track. The boy who used to be out at two ‘o’ clock is at home by eleven. I believe its such a good thing yet we tease about how he had changed his whole routine.

Thank You
