THE ART OF LIVING
I often lived in my past and sorrow,
In a way I forgot my today and tomorrow.
Childhood gave me the memories best,
Which I would cherish ever the most.
Days when the only troubles were a kajal
smudge,
A little of the bloodstains on the clothes'
edge.
Although dos and don'ts were a matter of
concern,
That's fine for me if I had a U-turn.
I often miss the girl I used to be,
The extra energetic, the very me.
Somehow, I've realized at last
That it's foolish to live in the past.
To get stuck in yesterday's never-granted
peace
but offered a suffocating mental freeze.
Thus, I turned towards what's ahead,
And there I started to live instead.
I have learned that, the people you see
Are never always what they mean to be.
I have never seen someone who failed,
Cause either they won or they learned.
It's okay to fall once, twice, and thrice,
All that matters is how you again rise.
“Potato's gonna potate, haters gonna hate”,
Things would happen if that's your fate.
All you have to do is, do what you do,
At the end of the day, be true to you.
Be grateful for what you have,
Your aversions are someone's had.
Loving yourself is not narcissism,
But a pure, authentic optimism.
Never be the cause of someone's tears
That shadow stays through all the years.
Be kind, gentle, and genuine,
And hold your grace within.
Never let your inner child die,
And it's never cowardly to cry.
Rather than just sympathetic, learn to be
empathetic.
For anyone, anytime, can be in a state
“pathetic”.
Never go rough and rude,
Cause your attitude varies someone's mood.
To be surrounded by people who care
Is the greatest fortune we could ever dare.
The list of lessons I am yet to learn
Is on the way of my unfinished yearn
To live in the present is an art,
Taking away the two zones apart.
Anyway, we are mortal beings,
Just live it through all the means.
If life gives an option to pause,
I would take it without a cause.
“But time is a winged chariot”, said
Marvell,
Thus, we should keep on moving as well.
If at all there is death,
What is the point in this breath?
