'Wonder': A Movie to Enlighten Your Soul.
A year in the life of August Pullman (Jacob Tremblay), also known as Auggie, is chronicled in the film "Wonder," which is based on the same-titled book by R.J. Palacio. He had to undergo several surgeries since he was a new born due to genetic abnormality that he was born with. A story that could have been painfully portrayed has been transformed by director Stephen Chbosky into one that is soft and gently moving. Here, Auggie's emotions are visible behind downturned facial lines and imperfections, thanks to a strong and convincing application of makeup. It's a good idea for the script, which was co-written by Chbosky, Steve Conrad, and Jack Thorne, to establish right away that Auggie is a typical child in all other respects.
